The Copper Stairs /

The Copper Stair is a roadside intervention along the Norwegian Scenic Routes in Jøssingfjord, designed as more than a rest stop—it is a crafted transition between infrastructure and landscape.

One Column Backyard /

One Column Backyard is situated on a corner site in the dense town center of Érvy-le-Châtel, reimagining the backyard as a suspended space within the city.
Rather than retreating inward, it is lifted and shared—forming a quiet clearing between urban fabric and everyday life.
Here, openness, lightness, and collectivity coexist, allowing moments of pause and encounter to gently unfold at the corner.

Above the Tracks /

Above the Tracksis located in the medieval town of Évry-le-Châtel, within a narrow, linear site marked by two abandoned rail lines and a forgotten platform.
Rather than erasing these remnants, the project builds upon them—allowing new structures to hover above the existing track, where memory becomes the point of departure.

Lilting /

Focusing on Chicago’s classic 6-flat typology, this project addresses the pressing demand for affordable and diverse housing in the contemporary city. While preserving the original structural integrity and economic feasibility, the design re-examines the adaptive potential of this established housing form to accommodate modern lifestyles.

Balance Act /

Balance Act is located along the Scenic Routes of southern Norway, set within an extreme coastal landscape.
The site unfolds in three conditions: a flat parking area, a narrow strip of exposed rock, and a cliff that drops abruptly toward the sea. Rather than claiming the ground, the project hovers above it—present, yet deliberately restrained.

The House of Frame /

The House of Frames is a vessel for both seeing and being seen.
Nature forms the enduring backdrop, while life unfolds as the shifting foreground.
Through the order of frames, the house unites the two—making residents both viewers of the landscape and actors within it.

Home, Sweet Home /

"Home, Sweet Home" is more than a sanctuary for the body and mind; it is a "vessel of time" that holds memories and warmth. Here, architecture is no longer a cold physical presence. Instead, standing as a guardian, it responds to the elderly's yearning for dignity, companionship, and a sense of belonging.

Strong Lightness /

Through the renovation and expansion of the Broken Hill Railway Station in Australia, this project explores the functional transformation and performance enhancement of transport architecture in extreme climates. The design defines the building as a 'climate device' situated between the landscape and infrastructure. While fulfilling the complex functions of a transport hub, it actively responds to the arid region’s intense solar radiation and frequent sandstorms.

Buried Gaze /

Buried Gaze is located in the remote mining town of Broken Hill, deep within the Australian desert, on a former industrial mining site.
Structures, water tanks, and a mine shaft plunging 300 meters into the ground mark a landscape shaped by extraction and labor.
Rather than introducing a new object on the surface, the museum withdraws underground, existing alongside the memory of excavation.

Incomplete Performance /

Located in downtown Boston, this project involves the adaptive reuse of a former dining space into a community theater, spatially integrated with an adjacent pizzeria. The design investigates the symbiotic potential between public cultural functions and daily commercial activities within existing fabrics. Using 'performance' as the central narrative thread, the architecture not only facilitates theatrical productions and public events but also orchestrates the continuous rhythm of daily operations.

Haoyun Yang

Haoyun Yang is a nomadic designer holding a Bachelor of Architecture from Boston Architectural College and a Master of Architecture II from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. His early practice focused on the intersection of studio research and market application, spanning competitions, concept design, and production supply chains. In 2024, he founded Atelier Within, an initiative dedicated to building a global designer alliance and providing overseas production realization services. His design approach stems from an internal logic—listening to the site, perceiving materiality, and responding to authentic needs to construct a self-consistent whole where meaning guides form. He believes that architecture should actively offer a specific "core experience," rather than serving as a vessel passively filled by function or form.

Yiming Zhu

Yiming Zhu holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Tongji University and is currently an MArch II candidate at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Her early practice spans China and North America, establishing a systematic understanding of architecture from concept to construction. Her design research investigates the relationships between context, time, and memory, with a specific focus on the adaptive reuse of heritage sites and small-scale cultural spaces. Through restrained and precise interventions, she seeks to extend historical traces, allowing architecture to be gradually perceived and discovered within layers of time.

Ruizhe Yuan

Ruizhe Yuan holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture and a Master of Architecture II from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Having practiced at Urbanus, BIG, and Perkins Eastman, she possesses extensive experience in the design and realization of cultural renovation projects and senior living communities. Her work explores the future of "existing stock," focusing on the built environment while responding to established social structures. Rooted in local context, she seeks design expressions that embody a unique, site-specific aesthetic.

董松 Song Dong

Song Dong graduated from the MArch I program at Harvard GSD. He practices architecture, but is not fixated on making buildings always "look correct." Rather than formal completion, he is more interested in whether these spaces will still be continuously used many years later. If a building appears somewhat awkward over time, it often means it is still alive.

Xinxuan Yang

Xinxuan Yang holds a Bachelor of Architecture (with a dual degree in Journalism) from Tsinghua University and a Master of Architecture II from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Her practice spans Beijing, Switzerland, and Los Angeles, including a winning entry for the Geneva Museum renovation competition. Currently focused on housing and adaptive reuse, she views space as something to be "lived" rather than "finished." She advocates for design grounded in precise judgment to create flexibility and long-term value, exploring the dialogue between the individual and the era to achieve a state of fluid, enduring resonance.

Xing Huang

Xing Huang holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Kansas State University. Her early work spans commercial retail spaces in China, urban renewal projects, and store design at varying scales, where she gradually shifted her focus from designing isolated spaces to observing how people move and feel in these environments. Rather than pursuing grand narratives, her work pays attention to small, everyday moments. For her, design is not about making statements or achieving a finished form, but about creating space for life as it is—imperfect, resilient, and quietly humorous. Illustration has become another way for her to observe and express, offering a more direct and intimate medium for capturing everyday humor and brief, meaningful moments of relief.
